BRUCE WILLIS has APHASIA, and is sadly no longer able to continue his acting career!

Updated: May 1, 2022

What is APHASIA?

How can it prevent someone from ACTING?

Aphasia is a language impairment, which can occur as a result of brain damage or a brain injury.

Some examples of brain damage, which may lead to aphasia are:

  • A stroke

  • A Brain tumour

  • Dementia

  • A traumatic brain injury- potentially due to physical assault or a road traffic accident

Aphasia can affect your ability to speak, read, write, or to understand spoken and written words.

For this reason, Bruce will find it difficult to say or potentially find the words needed to perform different acting roles. He is also likely to be unable to understand a script when reading it, and to process lots of information at once.

Additional stimulation such as lighting, cameras, and other people speaking, may make it more challenging for Bruce to process what people are saying, and to process what he is reading due to having aphasia, and this relates to the likely reduced cognitive abilities which have been referred to.

A Speech therapist supports clients with aphasia, through various language stimulation activities.

Check out my other Blog posts to provide you with some examples!

Our thoughts are with you and your family Bruce.....'Live it up!'
