L A Mark Speech Therapy Helping You Reach Your Goals

Welcome to My Practice

A client-centred approach is paramount; ensuring that clients are at the forefront of decision making and goal setting for their care.

We are passionate and excited to promote an improved way of communicating; empowering each individual to make their needs known, whilst honing into a toolkit of knowledge from over 10 years practice both within the NHS and independently.

Our specialties include providing assessment and intervention for adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties arising from progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Motor Neuron Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington’s disease and Dementia, and expands to clients who have  acquired brain injuries following a road traffic accident, a stroke, or diagnosis of a brain tumour. We also provide a service for clients who present with voice disorders which result in vocal strain, hoarseness or breathlessness.

“Leeanne has been so helpful and supportive. My sons voice has improved due to the speech therapy Leeanne offered. He was given manageable exercises and techniques to practice and Leeanne's sessions have been interactive and engaging. She always took the time to explain to my son what he needed to do with patience and kindness.   I highly recommend Leeanne."

Myself and my mother would like to thank you very much for all you have done with the speech and language therapy you have done with my father since he suffered a severe stroke, he seemed to enjoy and certainly engaged with you during these sessions, we put this down to your professionalism and the manner in which you conducted these therapy sessions. Many thanks to you once again

Leanne has been seeing one of our patients for
treatment since October 2019. The patient has made
excellent progress in his sessions following a stroke and
severe Apraxia.

Leanne has kept us update on progress and has
provided detailed reports when requested, which has
been important to ensuring smooth, uninterrupted
authorisation for ongoing treatment.

Invoices are sent promptly and it has been a very
smooth relationship working with Leanne. We will
definitely be happy to work with Leanne again."

Leeanne is not the first speech therapist we have worked with, but we have been very pleased with her.
My wife has speech aphasia and spent several months with the NHS speech therapy team. She felt however that her progress had plateaued, and a different aapproach was required.
Leeanne was recommended to us and from our first meeting we have both felt very comfortable and at ease with her very likable personality.
Leeanne took the time to fully understand what we were finding the most difficult in relation to my wife’s speech and what exactly we were hoping to get from the sessions with her. She then set out her treatment plan for the block of treatment sessions. Leeanne has always explained how the treatment she has planned is intended to work towards the goals.
Leeanne brings a variety of different treatments and we have never felt that we were just drifting along with treatment. We regularly discuss progress and Leeanne is always keen to ensure that we are happy to continue with treatment and that we feel we are getting value from it.
She has never taken for granted that we will be continuing with her service. We have seen a definite improvement in my wife’s condition as a direct result of Leeanne’s treatment and we will be very happy to continue to use her services.

"Reference for Leeanne Mark Speech Therapy

Following my husband’s first stroke in 2015, resulting in significant speech aphasia, Leeanne
provided speech therapy as part of the NHS funded stroke rehabilitation programme. We
were immediately impressed by her genuine warmth and ability to engage empathically,
helping him feel hopeful he could move forward. She inspired motivation and commitment
and was sensitive to his need for occasional breaks during sessions. His progress was very
encouraging. We were both disappointed when therapy ended due to limited NHS funding.
A year later following additional strokes, we were told he was unlikely to benefit from
further speech therapy. I recognised his level of frustration and determination not to give
up and subsequently sought a private consultation. We were delighted to find Leeanne’s
name on the list of private practitioners and did not hesitate to call her.
Once again Leeanne completed a careful and sensitive assessment, focussing on my
husband’s strengths whilst helping him identify realistic goals. She recognised the
difficulties we were both experiencing with communication and gave us helpful pointers and
tips.
My husband always welcomes Leeanne’s visits and we have both felt motivated to work
with the tools she has provided. Leeanne fully appreciates fluctuations in his ability to
engage if he is tired and encourages him to set the pace during sessional work to avoid over-
stretching him. She provides me with helpful feedback and I feel I am included in the
process of identifying achievable tasks we can work on together. Overall his progress has
been very encouraging and we feel assured he can build upon this with further therapy
input.
On the strength of our experience I would highly recommend Leeanne Mark Speech
Therapy to anyone seeking this form of therapeutic work.

Jane- Wife of Client

Essex

2022

In January of this year my husband suffered a very serious illness which left him requiring neuro rehabilitation at an inpatient unit. On discharge he was left with difficulty with reading and writing.

Unfortunately there was no further NHS treatment as an outpatient.

I searched for qualified speech therapists who would work with my husband at home and Leeanne was the most local to us.

Immediately on talking to her I felt reassured and she was confident that she would be able to help.

To start there was a 2 hour assessment and then hourly sessions.  Leanne was professional and my husband responded well to her therapy. Immediately we started to see progress.

Leeanne worked with my husband for 2 months, by which time he had made such good progress that Leeanne discharged him.

We were both very grateful to Leeanne for her professional help and would happily recommend her.

Many thanks Leeanne
